yugen (n.)
A profound awareness of the universe that triggers feelings too deep and mysterious for words.
When I discovered this word it was during a time of great self reflection and growth into adulthood. On a trip to a few National Parks, I was reminded of this wonderful feeling that seemed to fade as the marvels of childhood became clouded with life and experience. For me Yugen is a feeling worth chasing. A feeling worth creating. It’s a word we use as inspiration for our work. The universe is a terrifyingly large place and we know so little about why it exists. A universe so large it can sometimes feel that nothing really even matters. So, we focus on capturing the magnificent joy this life has to offer. Because in a world so big, what matters most to us are experiences and memories with those we love. Memories and experiences that, thanks to only the last century, can be captured and preserved in motion for eternity.
